Isa Dukaj, Director of the Office for Industrial Property at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), was a special guest speaker at “Pjetër Budi” College.

He delivered a lecture on “Protection and Treatment of Industrial/Intellectual Property” as part of the “Entrepreneurship” subject at the Bachelor’s level.

Dukaj emphasized that copyright and industrial/intellectual property rights are sacred and protected by the laws of Kosovo. He also highlighted that violators of these rights are subject to severe penalties, including imprisonment.

With his extensive experience of over 15 years in public institutions and his excellent knowledge in this field, Dukaj shared strong insights with the students of the “Customs and Freight Forwarding” program regarding industrial/intellectual property, covering various specifics such as types of  industrial/intellectual property, their definitions, and focusing specifically on several global brands, providing specific examples.

During this lecture, as future customs officers, the students had the opportunity to ask specific questions about how to handle these brands and their violators.

The mission of customs officers is precisely to protect against the misuse of counterfeit brands, so it was important for them to understand the necessary procedures and steps to take against the misuse of industrial/intellectual property.
