Today, the Kick off meeting of the project financed by the U.S. Embassy in Pristina: “Increasing the capacities of graduates for easy transfer of work in the field of Customs and Freight Forwarding “, was held with representation of main stakeholders.
The meeting was opened by Prof. Ass.Dr. Sabri Klaiqi, Rector – “Pjeter Budi” College, while the International expert in the project, Dr. Gokcen Ogruk-Maz, from Texas Wesleyan University, U.S.A, in her speech, committed to contribute on the revision of the study program by bringing the best practices from the U.S.
Participants in the meeting as well as the panelists were representatives of:
– Kosovo United States Alumni,
– Mr. Bashkim Arifi, deputy General Director of Kosovo Customs,
– Prof. Jeton Vokshi, Director of the Association of National and International Freight Forwarders,
– Prof. Naim Huruglica, Customs and Trade Expert,
– Local expert of higher education, as well as academic staff and student representatives of “Pjeter Budi” College.
Prof. Naim Huruglica, presented a study from the field of Customs and Trade, were among other findings, he mentioned in 2022:
- 223,226 customs declarations were submitted for the import of goods
- 32,529 customs declarations were submitted for the export of goods
Whereas, estimated cost of transport and other logistics costs, 1 billion Euro.
Additionally, the researches shows that businesses are lacking professional staff. There is a high need for professional staff who possess Customs and freight forwarding services expertise and logistics in international trande.
During the meeting Prof. Luljeta Aliu Mulaj presented the Report of the Needs Analysis for the study programs and graduates in the field of Customs, Forwarding and Logistics. This report will serve as a basis for revising the curriculum in this field.
The aim of the project is to support the smooth transition of the Kosovan Graduates in the field of Customs and Logistics by equipping with the with relevant skills and competences to contribute to the labour market.
